D. Andrew Folkner

Andrew Folkner joined Thompson O’Brien as an associate in 2016. His practice is focused on business and civil litigation in the State and Federal Courts of Georgia and Alabama. Prior to joining Thompson O’Brien, Andrew gained civil litigation experience as an associate in another Atlanta area firm.

Andrew received his J.D., cum laude, from Georgia State College of Law in 2013 and his B.S. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008.  As a law student, Andrew served as graduate research assistant in the Office of Legal Affairs and also interned for the Honorable Thomas Varlan at the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Tennessee.  While at Georgia Tech Andrew was a 4 year member of the Yellow Jacket’s football team and letterman.

Andrew lives in Atlanta and is an avid saltwater fisherman.  When he is unable to abscond to the coast, he enjoys cooking and watching college football.

Representative Experience

  • Obtained and collected upon a six figure punitive damages judgment for a commercial demolition and environmental abatement company. 
  • Prevailed at summary judgment against the City of Birmingham to enforce a materialmen’s lien against a property hold by the city.
  • Successfully defended a commercial supplier against a half million dollar counter-claim for breach of contract, breach of a covenant not to compete, and for lost profits.
  • Successfully mediated a six figure worker’s compensation fee dispute to obtain a favorable settlement for worker’s compensation insurance provider.
