Scott E. Hitch
Scott E. Hitch, Esq., LEED AP counsels clients on business strategy, regulatory compliance, policy, transactions and resolution of disputes involving:
- formation of sustainable business entities, corporate transactions and governance
- brownfield redevelopment and environmental remediation
- water quality and resource allocation
- air quality and emerging greenhouse gas emissions and climate change regulations
- renewable and “alternative” energy projects
- recycling, and regulation of wastes
- corporate responsibility/sustainability strategies
- “green,” sustainable building design, construction, and permitting
- “all appropriate inquiry” and environmental law for real estate, corporate transactions
- regulation of impacts to wetlands, streams, and storm water
- land conservation and historic preservation
Scott is actively involved in professional and community organizations. He is President of the International Board of Directors of CEMPROC, a non-profit focused on mediation and peace-making in Ecuador and Georgia, and serves on the boards of Keep Roswell Beautiful and the Georgia Land Conservation Center.
Scott is one of the only practicing Georgia lawyers to have earned a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) designation by the US Green Building Council (USGBC). He was selected to the “Rising Stars” list by Law & Politics and Atlanta Magazine in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
Scott is a cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law and an honor graduate of the University of Georgia Institute of Ecology (BS, ecology, minor, political science). Scott and his wife, Angie, live with their daughters, Eliza and Juliana, in Roswell, Georgia. He is an Eagle Scout.
