Thomas J. Smith, Jr.

Jay Smith practices primarily in the Firm’s Real Estate Section. There, he uses his extensive experience representing individuals, businesses and financial institutions in both residential and commercial real estate matters, including title disputes, closings and foreclosures. Jay also brings his experience to bear in assisting lenders in dealing with troubled assets through means other than the foreclosure process, including loan restructuring and litigation. Additionally, he represents clients in lease and contract negotiations, as well as, other transactional matters.

Jay is a 1989 cum laude graduate of Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law, where he served three years as an active member of the Mercer Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 1986. Jay enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and is active with the Boy Scouts of America.
