Greg Frassrand joined the firm in 2006
and supervises the firm’s real estate transaction and
corporate practice areas. Mr. Frassrand maintains a varied
real estate practice, representing a variety of clients,
including real estate developers, investors and builders, as
well as commercial and residential lenders in real estate
financing transactions. He structures like-kind exchanges
under Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code for
transactions involving both real property and personal
property transfers, and also acts as qualified intermediary
and qualified exchange accommodator in deferred and reverse
exchange transactions. Mr. Frassrand regularly lectures to
attorneys, accountants and real estate professionals
concerning like-kind exchange transactions.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Frassrand
spent 16 years in private practice in both Atlanta, Georgia
and in Michigan where, in addition to real estate
transactions, he primarily focused his practice in the areas
of commercial transactions and business planning, typically
involving counseling closely held business owners. Having an
accounting degree and a law masters in taxation in addition
to his years of experience working with closely held
businesses, Mr. Frassrand is able to provide clients with
advice on a multitude of business, legal and tax issues.
Mr. Frassrand also has extensive tax and
estate planning experience, including resolution of tax
controversies involving the Internal Revenue Service, as
well as state and local tax authorities.
